Training

Georgia regulations require that providers take 10 hours of training per year. Homes of Quality requires 25 and The National Association for Family Child Care requires 90 hours of training before accreditation can be awarded. My goal is to complete the Homes of Quality program by December of 2004 and the accreditation process by March of 2005. So far, I have taken the following training courses in addition to CPR and first aid:

How to Start a Family Child Care Home
Homes of Quality Orientation
FDCH Rules and Regulations
Moving and Grooving
Backyard Babies
Weed Out Stress
Play it Safe
Standards and Solutions for Healthy Child Care
Creative Curriculum for Family Child Care
20 Steps to Being a Creative, Innovative Teacher of Excellence
I Want to Play Too (Autism)
Adventures in Peacemaking
Bringing It to Life: the Basics of Storytelling
Hands-On Science
Project Work, Collaborative Inquiry, and the Development of Critical Thinking In a Multi Age Classroom
Family Centered Practices in Child Care
Ooey! Gooey! Squishy! Plop! (Hands-on art and science)
It Begins With Me: Infant and Toddler Brain Development and Active Learning
All the World's a Stage (Dramatic play)
Touch! See! Hear! Montessori in the Early Learning Environment
Building Math Skills Through Block Play
Take a Look at Me! A Strengths-Based Child Portfolio
You Know More Science Than You Think
Observing Young Children, Identifying Red Flags
Many more to come!
